Inauguration of Energy Manager Training Center in Ho Chi Minh city

On June 26, 2015, Ho Chi Minh city, the ribbon-cutting inauguration of the Energy Manager Training Center was held. Among the attendants at the ceremony were Mr. Do Duc Quan - Deputy Director General of Energy Management Department, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh city People's Committee.

This is the first energy manager training center ever in the country equipped with modern machinery for research, teaching theory and practice.

The Project was owned by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, with co-funding from JICA grants (Japan) in terms of provision of the illumination room, incinerator system, industrial compressor, and boiler system.

Starting August 2015, the Training Center will run its commissioning training with the first course for energy auditors, supported by the Japanese energy experts.

As revealed by Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong, deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, there are about 130,000 business establishments in the city, consuming about 20 billion kWh of electricity each year, accounting for 15% of national electricity consumption.

The effective management of energy resources in the city will significantly reduce energy waste. Reportedly, the annual electricity savings in the city is at about 400 million kWh.

Earlier, in April, the ground breaking ceremony was also held for the construction of energy management training center in Hanoi. It is expected that the center will be completed by 2017 with the goal to provide the highly qualified human resources of energy management, energy audits to work in domains of industry, transport, and construction.

It is expected that the development of two Energy Managers Training Centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will meet the demands for highly qualified human resources, contributing to reduction of energy consumption, for the enforcement of the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy.
