Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) has announced that in September, the country saved 2,057 billion kWh of electricity, equivalent to 2.19% of commercial electricity output. Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) and Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) got the largest saving rate of more than 2,5%.
The results achieved so far are due to the Corporation and affiliates’ relentless efforts in the propaganda of power savings. The activities include the propaganda on mass media, by organizations; leaflets, posters, banners, handbooks about power saving. Besides, EVN also launched many competitions and movements on electricity saving such as: Programs on “electricity saving families”, “Typical electricity saving streets”, “Save electricity together”, “Together we use electricity safely and economically” at schools; organized training courses for energy auditors and conferences of key electricity saving customers. 
In addition, Power Corporations have also implemented the program of the Corporation and Ministry of Industry and Trade since the beginning of the year. It is a program between EVN and Central Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City about “Agreement on co-operating to propagandize and mobilize using electricity safely and efficiently during 2014-2015”.
A program was also launched to support dragon fruit famers in Binh Thuan, Tien Giang, Long An to use energy saving light bulbs instead of incandescent ones, leading to 83,000 compact lights installed.
