Two home businesses run by Vu Van Hung and Nguyen Van Lan at Kim Lan Commune were given energy saving awards with total value of nearly VND300 million. They are the first two businesses in Kim Lan to receive loan from Vietcombank with the guarantee of GIF to convert from coal-fired kiln to LPG kiln.

Business owners received energy saving awards

Since implementing the project, Vu Van Hung’s business has reduced CO2 emission by 89.9% and saved 77.98% of energy. Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Lan’s business has lowered emission by 61.05% and saved 61,05% of energy.

At the ceremony, Ms Charlotte Laursen - Danish Ambassador, said: “We hope that Denmark’s support via GIF will help to raise awareness of energy efficiency among small and medium enterprises and replicate energy saving ideas that were implemented in other areas and other sectors.”

“Kim Lan is considered the cradle of household ceramic business in Hanoi. However, businesses’ production technologies are outdated, in particular, households in the village are still using coal-fired kiln. This not only harms the environment but also creates products with uneven quality. As a result, households have always wanted to convert to LPG kiln, but financial constraint remains a problem” said Nguyen Manh Ha - President of Kim Lan Commune.
